I was at Sidi Slimane in 54 to
55. I was a teletype operator, worked in the com center, and was
also in the weather room in the control tower. Some of the guys
I was with were Arnold Bruce, Arthur Shaw. The hut we were in
everyone had a nickname - Wino, Sugarfoot, Gabby, and Yo-Yo.
Have lots of pictures from there. While I was there the locust
were so thick you couldn't take a step without stepping on some.
The Arabs ate them and said they were like a flying shrimp. Glad
I came across this site. Went from Sidi to Kirtland in N.M. and
on to Harmon AFB in New Foundland.

I was stationed at Sidi Slimane
Air Base in 1951. We were mechanics and we built the base up. I
came from McDill and spent one year at Sidi Slimane. We parked
the B-36 with a "follow me" jeep. In fact, General
Lemay paid us a visit while I was there. Then in 1954 I returned
for 3 months. We came from Hunter AFB. Glad I found this site.
Brings back some great memories.
